Gorski prelaz

Prelepa narava. Zelo zanimivo je bilo v vročini in kratkih rokavih na snegu.

V jasnem vremenu, zna biti parkirišče hitro zapolnjeno. Dobro je priti zgodaj zjutraj, če ne bo potrebno parkirati nižje ob cesti. Parkirišče bi lahko bilo bolje urejeno, lahko bi vozil brezplačni avtobus. V visoki sezoni znajo biti na cesti ovce. Včasih se znajo splaziti pod avtomobile, da se v vročih dneh umaknejo vročini. Ovc se ne hrani, ker potem postanejo nadležne.Okolica je lepa in sproščajoča. Prelaz Vršič je izhodišče za različne smeri.

Unspektakuläre Auffahrt, recht flach und gut ausgebaut für Rennrad. DIE Abfahrt nach Slowenien ist schöner.

Hele mooie weg om te fietsen. Lekker veel haarspeldbochten maar niet te stijl. Helaas wel de fout gemaakt om op een feestdag te gaan fietsen. Heel veel motorrijders en snelle auto's die omhoog scheuren zodat je in de uitlaatgassen rijdt.

Lep gorski prelaz. S precej gneče na cesti in na vrhu.Parkirisce na vrhu je plačlivo( 5 eur). Cesta je precej strma.

Vršič Mountain Pass with its 1,611m is the highest road pass in the Eastern Julian Alps. The high-mountain road from Kranjska Gora through Vršič to Log in Trenta has 50 serpentines, 24 on the side of Kranjska Gora and 26 on the Trenta side.In Vršič, you can relax and have something to eat or drink in the mountain cabins.Vršič is also the starting point for the Mala Mojstrovka and Jalovec Mountain sand for a very popular (mostly for families) Slemenova Špica Mountain. On the way to Vršič you can see the Russian Chapel, a natural window in the Prisank mountain, face and the Heathen Maiden (Ajdovska deklica). Over 10.000 Russian prisoners of war were engaged in construction of the road. Aware of the avalanche threat, the prisoners worked under special anti-avalanche fences but unfortunately these were unable to withstand two severe avalanches in the spring of 1916. According to military archives data, the avalanche buried over 300 Russian prisoners and several Austrian guards. The construction of the road was completed in 1917.In 1916 the prisoners built a wooden chapel on the Kranjska Gora side of the road in memory of their suffering and the comrades who were buried by the avalanche. The chapel was completely restored in the years 2005 – 2006. In June 2006, in commemoration of the 90th anniversary of the construction of the chapel, Slovenian government renamed the section of the road between Kranjska Gora (Hotel Erika) and Vrsic the Russian Road.The mountain road from Kranjska Gora (810 m) across Vrsic (1611 m) to Log in Trenta (620 m) spans 24 kilometresSI: Cesto čez prelaz Vršič so med prvo svetovno vojno gradili ruski vojni ujetniki, katerim je posvečena Ruska kapelica na severni strani prelaza. Ob kapelici vsako leto poteka svečana spominska maša, ki se jo je leta 2016, ob 100. obletnici postavitve, udeležil tudi ruski predsednik Vladimir Putin.
